As someone who really enjoys her red meat, going vegetarian is a big change.
Cheeseburgers, steak, chicken, pork; I love it all. However, I decided that it would be interesting to see if I could survive on vegetables and grains. To be fair, I'm not going 100 percent vegan, I'm still eating fish and dairy.
The first thing I noticed is that it is expensive to be a vegetarian. Going vegetarian for the week cost twice as much for half the amount of food.
The reason for this being specialty stores. Normally I shop at Super-Walmart and Stater Bros., but for this week I went to Fresh and Easy and Henry's which were considerably more expensive.
I was expecting this to be hard in terms of will power, but I really wasn't expecting it to be harder on my wallet.
