No TV: Day Four

Today started out well. I skipped work and went to Disneyland with my niece for her birthday. I avoided the temptation of television completely.

It was nice. I didn’t think about this project or the lack of television at all. Once you’re not thinking about it or it’s not taunting you by sitting there with no power.

But, once I got home and things settled down I fell back into my habits of the week. Avoiding what other people were watching and trying to find something else to do.

I wanted to watch TV bad tonight. Thursday is my full day with “Flash/Forward,” “Bones,” “Fringe,” “Community,” “CSI” and more. Lots to watch. So, lots of me sitting around.

I did come to a realization that maybe I don’t need to watch TV if I am not planning on watching something. Like if I know “CSI” is on that’s fine. But, I shouldn’t just be bored and flip the TV and surf around. It doesn’t cure boredom; it just prolongs the inevitable boredom.

While I can’t wait for tomorrow night when I can watch TV, I also am curious if I could possibly go another week.

Maybe I can watch my regular shows and try to not watch anything else.
